Transfer of Durable Stripe Rust Resistance Gene Yr39 into Four Chinese Elite Wheat Cultivars Using Marker-Assisted Selection

چکیده
Wheat gene Yr39 confers durable high-temperature adult-plant (HTAP) resistance to stripe rust caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici, one of the most destructive diseases wheat worldwide. The objective this study was transfer into four Chinese elite cultivars. Backcross inbred line populations were developed from cultivars Chuanmai 42 (CM42), Bainong Aikang 58 (AK58), Han 6172 (H6172) and Zhengmai 9023 (ZM9023) crossed with a single-gene line. F1, BC1F1 BC1F6 lines genotyped using analogs polymorphism (RGAP) markers Xwgp36, Xwgp44 Xwgp43, which are closely linked Yr39. Progeny selected for evaluated in field agronomic traits including plant height, tiller numbers, spike grain numbers thousand-grain weight. Eleven desirable traits. These production potential can be used further testing various regions as germplasm resources breeding new resistance, high yield, adaptation different environments.

a study was conducted to identify ssr markers linked to leaf rust resistance genes lr24 and lr28 and to be used for marker-assisted selection (mas) to transfer both genes to a widely cultivated wheat variety mp 3299 under rainfed condition. f2 individuals of the cross mp 3299×nil pbw 343 were used for generating genotypic data employing closely linked scar markers s73719 and s421570 to lr24 and...
متن کاملMolecular marker mapping of leaf rust resistance gene lr46 and its association with stripe rust resistance gene yr29 in wheat.
ABSTRACT Leaf and stripe rusts, caused by Puccinia triticina and P. striiformis, respectively, are globally important fungal diseases of wheat that cause significant annual yield losses. A gene that confers slow rusting resistance to leaf rust, designated as Lr46, has recently been located on wheat chromosome 1B. The objectives of our study were to establish the precise genomic location of gene...
متن کاملLinkage Maps of Wheat Stripe Rust Resistance Genes Yr5 and Yr15 for Use in Marker-Assisted Selection
Stripe rust (caused by Puccinia striiformis Westend. f. sp. tritici Eriks.) is a serious disease of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). Resistance genes Yr5 and Yr15 are the only known all-stage resistance genes that defeat all stripe rust races currently found in the United States. Previously mapped markers for these genes, however, show limited polymorphism across diverse genotypes and/or map at a ...
متن کاملRapid and Targeted Introgression of Genes into Popular Wheat Cultivars Using Marker-Assisted Background Selection
A marker-assisted background selection (MABS)-based gene introgression approach in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) was optimized, where 97% or more of a recurrent parent genome (RPG) can be recovered in just two backcross (BC) generations. A four-step MABS method was developed based on 'Plabsim' computer simulations and wheat genome structure information. During empirical optimization of this meth...
متن کاملUnderstanding Molecular Mechanisms of Durable and Non-durable Resistance to Stripe Rust in Wheat Using a Transcriptomics Approach
Stripe rust of wheat, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici, continues to cause severe damage worldwide. Durable resistance is necessary for sustainable control of the disease. High-temperature adult-plant (HTAP) resistance, which expresses when the weather becomes warm and plants grow older, has been demonstrated to be durable. We conducted numerous studies to understand the molecular ...
